2023 GLOBAL SMART SOLUTION REPORT
Energy Transition
The energy sector accounts for about three-quarters of today’s greenhouse gas emissions and is crucial to supporting the global economic system. Energy transition is therefore essential to achieve net zero emissions. For this goal to be achieved, it is necessary to reduce energy-related CO2 emissions and improve energy efficiency and renewable energy with the innovative tool of technology, policy frameworks and market instruments. The 2023 Global Smart Solution Report includes 11 smart city cases. Among them, 8 are related to energy transition, and 3 are recommended by the partner Go SMART, showing the smart application of the city. Most of the cities in this report are located in Asia: even though they are geographically close, each city faces different development problems.

Local Energy Governance Rating System LEGRS Guideline (Pilot)
Very few initiatives target energy transition and sustainable energy at the local level. Even fewer frameworks and tools were once available for local governments to develop a comprehensive energy plan. In response to these emerging demands, Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability (ICLEI), ICLEI Kaohsiung Capacity Center (ICLEI KCC) and International Climate Development Institute (ICDI) co-developed the Local Energy Governance Rating System (LEGRS), which acts as a framework and a tool to support local governments transitioning towards sustainable energy systems. LEGRS intends to serve as an important toolbox for local governments to link up with international sustainable certification, accelerating local energy transitions, and eventually realizing commitments toward energy and climate goals. The document is applicable to local governments and local authorities with political jurisdiction.

2021 GLOBAL SMART SOLUTION REPORT
Eco-Mobility & Eco-Logistics
The air pollution in transportation and logistics are the main issues in urban development. Providing green infrastructure and developing innovative technology through public-private partnership can help to reduce carbon emissions and lead cities toward sustainable development. From this perspective, Eco-Mobility and Eco-Logistics prioritize developing sustainable transportation and urban freight solutions that are environmentally friendly and socially inclusive. In response to this issue, the 2021 Global Smart Solutions Report includes 11 smart cases under the theme of Eco-Mobility & Eco-Logistics. To encourage more stakeholders to take action on climate change, ICDI and ICLEI KCC invited Taoyuan City Government, ECCT LCI, IGES and ITRI to be our new partners for collecting smart cases from the public and private sectors.
